First we started up the steps where Gus decided to do some impromptu 'model posing' hahaha
After that, we came upon this monument in front of us, so I snapped a quick picture of it.
Afterwards, however, I got more curious and learned (for a bit of mcgyvered wikipedia-ing) that we were in fact standing on the Kalkberg, a salt glacier from which of Lüneburg's salt was derived. This monument in fact was in reference to a castle that had sat on the hill in 1371, and after the War of Succession, was destroyed along with a monastary. This area is one of Germany's first nature reserves. Cool!
So carrying on, we decided to have a viewing of the entire area from on top of the Kalkberg.
And then we goofed off. Slightly.
So there was also a cannon. And then Zach and Gus sat on it.
And then we decided to have a look from the bars.
Here we go:Here was a really pretty flower on the other side of the fence
A view of the bog/swamp area
And then the Americans haha
And that was our fun for the weekend :)
