This ought to have been done AGES ago, but off we go:

Alright so I'm a little slow to start these thingies...but I figured better later than never, eh?

I have been in Lüneburg, Germany for about 2 and a half weeks, and so far have managed to navigate the local transportation, learn how to use the elderly washing machines in my building, and have visited many very interesting places in the area. This is basically going to be a monster post, to cover lost ground.

Lüneburg!

Lüneburg is a small town in the heart of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), about a half hour train ride from Hamburg. Its most notable for its Hanseatic town layout, as it was formally part of the Hanseatic League. That aside, it is a pretty bustling university (der Universität would be the noun) town.
Just down this little street is my 'Studentin Wohnheim' or student apartment on Salzbrücker Strasse. I live with 3 very different roommates, who are each very fun to be around and speak very good English (this comes in handy when my brain fizzles out and can't think in German). As soon as I have pictures, of Imke, Nivea, and Aida I'll put them up. Possibly.

If you continue down the street, you make your way to Am Sande, one of the best meeting places in the city, as it is where most buses leave from, and where most of us take public transport to school.
Continuing down the street (with a bit of help from Ian, Gus, and Zach's left arm), we are almost at Am Sande, ready to explore the city. As you can see, little boutiques line the street. On this particular street, you will find that most stores are clothing stores and small banks. Other streets are more specific to bakeries, books, and restaurants.

The walk to Am Sande is a bit longer than expected..oops. But at any rate, from here you can see the St. Nikolai Kirche poking out from behind the Am Sande main.
The buildings around the Am Sande area are incredibly decorative and elaborate such as these above.

After walking down the baker street, we got some food at Brot and Brötchen, a delicious bakery in the Rathaus square. On a similar note, we also saw the Rathaus! And its very pretty. Just by the way.

Also, these horses kept going through the main square!

From there we ventured down to the Wasserverteil, or I suppose its really just a Crane with a hollow really cool inside.

There was also this terrific boat sitting in the river (its pretty much bolted there).
And then we adventured further!

After much exploring we did find something we hadn't planned on finding: The most epic playground we have ever messed around on!

And that was our first day out!
